Snow King Mountain Resort — Jackson Town Hill
Jackson's original ski mountain, sitting right above town. Snow King is often called "The Town Hill" — you can walk from your hotel or restaurant straight to the base. It's smaller and steeper than JHMR, with a more local, unpretentious vibe that visitors tend to love.
Snow King also offers night skiing on Fridays and Saturdays, plus a year-round mountain coaster and zip line that's great for families. Summer activities include a scenic chairlift ride and hiking trails with panoramic views of the valley.

Grand Targhee Resort — Alta, Wyoming
Located on the west side of the Tetons, about 45 minutes from Jackson, Grand Targhee is the valley's best-kept secret. It gets more snow than almost anywhere in Wyoming — sometimes over 500 inches a year — and the crowds are a fraction of JHMR.
Perfect for families and powder hounds alike. The resort offers snowcat skiing for those who want deep backcountry-style powder without the touring gear. On a powder day after a big storm, Targhee locals guard this secret fiercely.

Beyond the slopes, Jackson Hole has a full menu of winter activities. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails lace Grand Teton National Park — the Cache Creek trail system just outside of town is popular with locals.
